Bahru Stainless won in the Annual Stainless Steel Industry Awards 2023
At the worldstainless-27 conference, the world stainless association has announced the winners of the 2023 Stainless Steel Industry Awards. The Awards are given in four categories, Market Development, Technology, Safety and Sustainability. Every year, the association awards good practices and novel ideas in these areas.
It has been a great honour as Bahru Stainless was announced as a GOLD AWARD recipient in the Safety category with the title ‘Smart Safety Zone’. With this project the worker safety was increased through use of Smart Sensor Barriers which are effective in reducing accidents and injuries by early detection and reaction to human presence and movements. Bahru Stainless also was announced as a BRONZE AWARD recipient in the Sustainability category with the title Annealing Furnace Revamping for Gas Saving. The revamping work started in Oct 2022 and the trial runs on Nov-Dec 2022 showed the gas saving achievable at 6%, BS completed the AP2 furnace revamping project to minimise the furnace heat loss. Natural gas specific consumption after the revamping modification is reduced by an average of 6% indicating the efficiency of gas consumption has been improved for energy saving. The gas consumption reduction not only has direct savings in terms of energy cost, but also contributes to the correlated Scope 1 GHG emission reduction that aligns with the climate change mitigation action and the ESG commitments.
